Nothing To Do

This weekend, Ray and I had nothing on the “had-to-do” list, for a change. So we took full advantage of Saturday, do to pretty much that. Nothing. And nothing included making use of the sauna - - which we rarely do.

I’ve always thought of people divided into two sauna-camps. There are the “hell-yes-cuz-it’s-a-spiritual-experience” sauna-people and the “no-thank-you-cuz-I-just-don’t-get-it” sauna-people. And I’ve always been firmly in the “no-thank-you” camp. Just not my thing. But on Saturday, I may have switched camps. May be it was the magic of our do-nothing day that provided a little nudge towards sauna-clarity. Because I think I got a glimpse into what all of those “hell-yes” sauna people have been raving about….

There was something so relaxing about the sauna on this particularly crazy-cold day. The whole process, really. Like a meditation…..From chopping the wood and making the fire, then waiting. Waiting. Then opening the door to get the first whoosh of warm air. With nothing more to do than just sit in the cedar-scented warmth. Nothing more to do but soak in the whole experience.

It felt glorious.

For sure, the sauna was a fabulous addition to our “nothing-to-do” day. And who knows. I may have just become a “hell-yes” sauna person after all.
