Take a Hike

There's nothing like a walk through the woods to restore
a sense of balance and spark curiosity. The Tamarack boasts nearly 3 miles of trails through open meadows, spruce bogs and old-growth pine
forests, offering a snapshot
of Northern Minnesota’s tremendous beauty.

Cranberry Lake

Stroll the boardwalk, across the spruce bog, to the edge of Cranberry Lake's natural shoreline. With the only private access to the lake, it might be all yours. Spend the day swimming, fishing (catch and release) or exploring in the kayaks. For sure, a day at the lake is a day well-spent!

Campfire Pit & Firewood

You supply the s'mores, the stories and the songs. The universe will provide the starlight. And we'll furnish all the firewood you need.
(Guests are not allowed to bring their own firewood onto the property, in order to avoid
pest contamination.)

Wood-Fired Sauna

In true Scandinavian-style,
a relaxing sauna is a Minnesota tradition, whatever the season. Enjoy the relaxation of a
wood-fired steam bath, and then go jump in the lake, to rejuvenate all the senses.

Kayaks, Canoe &
a Row Boat

What could be better than a paddle across the lake?
Two kayaks, a canoe,
a paddleboard and a row boat are available for guest use. (Life jackets are mandatory.)

Nature’s Bounty

At The Tamarack, nature takes center stage. Depending on the season, you might pick home-grown apples or forage for blueberries, raspberries or cranberries along the trails. (Did someone say pie?)

Large Deck & Outdoor Dining

Find a quiet, sunny spot on the large wrap-around deck for an afternoon read or simply to watch the birds. Then gather the entire family on the deck for dinner. Because
everything is better when
you are out-of-doors.

Lawn Games

We're happy to share our collection of lawn games. With a large flat yard, there's plenty of room for a friendly game of badminton, croquet or bocce ball. Or learn a new game. (Kubb, anyone?) Our rules? Winners choose the dinner menu. Losers do the dishes!
