Smoke & Haze

We woke up this morning to the strong smell of smoke and a heavy golden-gray haze. Thanks to the Canadian wildfires and southerly winds, it hung in the air the entire day. We were plenty safe, with the fires hundreds of miles away. But given this summer’s severe drought, and with so many wildfires along Minnesota’s north shore, it felt very tangible and close to home. Hopefully this smoke is as near as we ever get to experiencing such a disaster.
